Life, love, your family and you

Ok don’t be fooled by the page title….motivation comes from probably more sources than I have collected here on this website for sure. Here are some obvious ones which can drive us on as humans.

People are motivated by negatives such as money, greed and power, some by hate and vengeance, some by a feeling of bettering another person. Some just want attention, others want recognition and respect, or all of them.

All are quite powerful in their own right. Fo

rtunately, most are motivated b

y more positive things, like love, a will to give of themselves, to help others succeed or learn. So

me are driven by simple praises like thank yous or a nice gesture or homemade gift.

What we are ultimately driven by is life and the extension of it as far as possible. Without life we are nothing. We need some purpose and to feel justified in what we are doing.

We have seen and heard how some babies seem to develop a will to fight from the moment they are born.

We probably all know the courage we see in people fighting illness, a will not to be beaten when up against the impossible, overcoming all the odds. Hence why we like a bulldog, or underdog spirit. If you cannot be driven by life, whether your own or someone close to you, then soon you are likely to give up.

F

amilies. Can’t love can’t kill them sometimes! All though can be a great source of motivation with the right characters and personalities. Mothers, fathers, sibling rivalries, family feuds or connections can bring about complete changes for the individuals within. We all have a responsibility too. Hopefully most of us if lucky may have a supportive family which is full of healthy banter and encouragement. Reinforcing family values and sharing knowledge and happiness as a unit. For some though, such family images can be the furthest from the truth. Being cast aside, austerisised, shunned, left to fend for themselves, orphaned, put into care. It would take some people mammoth efforts to overcome things against such odds, but they continue to exist and defy those who doubt them.

For most of us things work best if we have support in the form of friends and families. They can become a constant source of encouragement, or just helpful in one facet of your life, whether that’s emotional, practical, technical, humour, or maybe religious. Lo

ve….ah that subject. Turns worlds upside down. Completely distracts the best of us. But conversely it can also move mountains, bring two people together who had not been before….and if worked at, it can last a lifetime…fantastic. Never underestimate its power…..to destroy but equally to build and grow…and nurture.

Entangled with love, is the love or will to do something for your children and family. Whether it is to help them to love, respect, grow, develop, achieve or all the lot, there is probably no greater feeling, speaking as a parent here, than to see your children show you what they capable of and how far they have grown. If you are doing something like a charity run or event for a loved one or relative (in memory or tribute to them) then that is an immense shot in the arm with motivation.

One of the biggest sources of motivation within your life is you. Changes i

n circumstances, in particular, it forces you to think and act differently and develop new skills and a depth of understanding

and test you to the full. A lot of people blame others for their own situation, ignorance, for not doing as expected, not taking responsibility, when in truth, it is as much in the individuals own hands as others. Confidence, happiness, opportunities and a will to change things to succeed, are what is required. Not always easy to do but all have the same ingredient….you.
